Introducing Julia...

Soooo....It's been forever since I last posted but I figured with all that's going on with Miss Julia I would give it a whirl!

First of all...this is Julia!

She was born January 16, 2011. Two days before her big brother's 3rd birthday. She has been a beautiful, wonderful, tiny little blessing since the day she was born.
When she was 9 months old we found out she was profoundly deaf in both ears. A huge shock to the parents of 2 healthy boys who only suffer from selective hearing. She received hearing aids and has been wearing them since November with no significant increase in hearing ability. She still only hears at around 55-60 decibels (not enough for every life or general converstation). Last Friday, we saw the neurotologist and set a surgery date for cochlear implants. On Monday, April 23, 2012 my baby girl will begin her journey to a whole new world of sound.

Outside...a lot!

I love summer and being outside. When it's warm outside, my house tends to suffer because I can't stand to stay in.

Finally got Monkey in the pool and now it's hard to get him out. We spent memorial day at "Mimi an Pop's" in the pool most of the day. There was a giant snake in the pool!

and cute kids of course too.

The next day was spent at our neighbors house. Have I mentioned that I have the best neighbors ever??

Sliding down the slide into the pool was one of the highlights of the day.

and of course daredevil had to jump off the slide.

Now, this is what they call fun.

I have no words....

They had so much fun on the slide next door, we had to put up our pool and do the same.

Baker wanted his hair cut "just like daddy's." Now, he really looks like him!

Baker loves the water and we have been swimming every day @ Mimi and Pop's. He asked a few days ago if he could take his floaties off, so I said sure. Then...he swam across the pool!!! Who knew?

I am not a big meat eater nor am I a fan of the word "meatloaf," however, this recipe is yummy!!! In order to give credit where credit is due...I got it from here.



Cheesy salsa Meatloaves



you need:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1 egg

12 saltine crackers finely crushed

1 1/2 cups mexican style finely shredded cheese (divided)

1 cup salsa



heat oven to 400 degrees

mix 1st four ingredients with 1 cup cheese and 1/2 cup salsa

press evenly into 12 muffin cups sprayed with cooking spray

use back of spoon to make indentations in center of each

bake 20-25 min until meatloaves are done

top with remaining cheese and salsa

bake 3 more min until cheese is melted

Enjoy! Yummm!!



*I double this recipe and do not put the salsa on top. I use fat free or low fat where it is available and I also do not do exact measurements. My husband and kids LOVE it.
*Serve with fresh summer veggies from the garden...cauliflower mashed potatoes, steamed squash and onions...oh, and sweet tea!

Today... Started ok...then I fed the dog. She threw up her entire breakfast in the living room floor! Yuck! No cleaning today. Spent time with Doug and the boys. A trip to walmart and Kroger. Came home to a very warm house. Turns out the air conditioner has gone out! Great! However, I made mini salsa meatloaves for dinner and they were great! I'll share the recipe tomorrow. Night all! I pray for a better tomorrow.
